Ribbon Blender for an Organic Dyestuff Customer
Lonsen Group is the leading dyestuff manufacturer around the world which accounts for nearly 21% of world shares. Vortex got an order from Lonsen invested in India plant in 2012.
The customer need ribbon blender for organic dyestuff with 0.6 density and 3 ton capacity per batch. The process is feeding raw material through screw conveyor into ribbon blender and discharge with SWECO vibrator before final package. Vortex designed 8000L total volume ribbon blender with stainless steel 316L construction for material contact part, WAM brand screw conveyor with 250mm diameter to conveyor raw material, SWECO brand vibrator to get fine final product before package. Let’s explain in detail as following about this dyestuff mixing line:
A. Screw Conveyor
The customer just want manual feeding from 1000L feeding hopper into screw conveyor to transport raw material into ribbon mixer. We choose U type screw conveyor with top lid cover in order to make easy clean in daily work. The speed of shaft needn’t very fast to match manual feeding speed.
B. Ribbon Blender
The Mixer is the most important part in this product line. Considering the capacity is not very big, we chose ribbon blender to instead of conical mixer because the working efficiency, mixing time is faster than conical mixer. However, dyes is a kind of product which is easy to absorb moisture. So, we must keep the minimum clearance between ribbon and vessel wall. If we make clearance big, the material will be stick on vessel and many residues stay inside the mixer. Not only control the clearance, but also we must need mixer start after loading to avoid the product mixing too long time to absorb moisture. At last, we add scraper on the ribbon and vibration motor on the vessel for option.
At the discharge part, vibrator is necessary to get fine and similar size product before package. So, Vortex chose SEWCO brand vibrator at the bottom of discharge door with outlets for manual package.
This project was installed and commissioned in 2013. The customer is happy with Vortex Ribbon Blender’s performance. The manager Wang said that this is Lonsen’s first step to enter India market and they will put much effort to enlarge their product line to get more benefit and market percentage in South Asia.
