How the conical screw mixer works
The conical screw mixer can be called Nauta mixer. Which are an excellent design alternative for applications that are shear sensitive, such as the powder, liquid and solid mixings in the pharmacy, chemical industry, fertilizer, oil pressing and refining, coating, pigment, dyestuff, fireproof material, mine, construction material, electronic plastic, biological project, nuclear material etc.
Conical screw mixer consists of drive part, cylinder and screw agitator. The blending screw orbit the vessel wall while it turns and lifts the material upward. The materials were lifted by high speed and deflected into the center of the vessel. The materials are then thrust at the upper most batch level towards the center of vessel, and then move slowly back down the center. Repeated rotation and revolution of the screw form shearing, convection and diffusing inside the vessel.
When compare with the horizontal blenders this design has several advantages:
1. This design could be fit where space on the plant floor is at a minimum. Less floor-space and ideally suited to multi- floor facilities.
2. General blending action is ideal for friable or shear sensitive materials.
3. Nearly 100% of blended material are discharged through the bottom valve after the completion of the blend cycle.
4. Conical screw mixer could be used for a wide range of batch sizes, ranging from as small as 10% of the rated capacity.
5. Easy to clean out.
